William Michael Davis

Nov 2, 1956 — Jun 18, 2026

Newton

William Michael ‘Mike’ Davis, 69, loving husband, father, and grandfather, left this world for his heavenly home on June 18, 2026. He passed quietly, surrounded by his family.

He was born in Topeka, Kansas, November 2nd, 1956, to William Robert ‘Bob’ and Amy Lois Davis. He was the youngest, with three sisters, Judi, Nancy, and Pati.

On June 25, 1977, he married Monica McNeill at St. Mary Catholic Church, Newton. Together they had 10 children: Derek, Kara, Nicholas, Jill, Zachary, Mary, Jessica, Dominic, William, and Michaela. He was also Godfather to Jeni, Lance and Kyler. He was always there for his family, loving them, providing for them, teaching them, attending their activities, and going to Mass as a family every Sunday. In 1977, he converted to the Catholic Faith. He enjoyed serving as an usher to welcome Mass participants. As a member of the Knights of Columbus, he served as Grand Knight. Michael became a Fourth Degree Knight to embrace the order’s principle of patriotism.

On July 1, 1994, he began working for the then Atchison, Topeka and Santa Fe Railroad, now Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railway. He enjoyed his job as a carman until he retired in January of 2022.

In his spare time, he liked working on cars and participating in the demolition derby. Usually, it was a group project with his children, even his daughters.

Michael worked on scouting projects with his boys, even travelling to Philmont Scout Ranch.

He was a proud supporter of his children and grandchildren's sports, concerts, and art shows.

Dementia slowly took his ability to do the things he enjoyed and communicate with loved ones .

Micheal was preceded in death by his parents, Bob and Lois Davis, Sister, Nancy Dix, and baby daughter Michaela.

He is greatly missed by his surviving family, wife Monica, Son Derek (Jennifer), Hayden, Holden. Kahlyn, and Kyren, Daughter Kara (Jan-Christopher) , Ian and Noah Lietsche, Son Nicholas (Carrie) and Kirby, Daughter Jill (Lee), Maya, and Lily Shippy, Son Zachary (Erin) Korie, Mikey, Knox, and Kolt, Daughter Mary (Eddie) Elsie and Chance Bowser, Daughter Jessica (Derek) Rosie and Daisy Bean, Son Dominic (Kylie) Joseph, Micah, and Valerie, and Son William(Katie) .
