Walter “Bruff” Edward McQuade, 92, died on October 27th 2015 at Bethesda Home in Goessel, Kansas. He was born to Edward and Elizabeth McQuade on February 14, 1923 in Athens, Ohio. He attended Colgate University in New York where he played football and received All American Honors. He served in the United States Army from 1943-1946. Bruff married Billye Rhue Stewart in June of 1945. They had three children Chuck, Shelley and Lori. Bruff was a credit life insurance salesman, working for various companies. He also had experience as an entrepreneur, owninga iquor store and bowling alley in El Dorado. Bruff was a of St. Mary Catholic Church. Family was very important to Bruff, he also enjoyed sports, especially golfing, and playing baseball.
He is preceded in death by his parents, four brothers, three sisters, and his two wives: Billye and Dorothy McQuade. He is survived by his children: Chuck, Shelley and Lori; six grandchildren, three great grandchildren and a sister: Patricia Golden.
A Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 AM, Friday, October 30th at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Newton. Visitation will be from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. at Petersen Funeral Home. Further arrangements are pending with Petersen Funeral Home.
