Verene Eason

Verene Eason 94, died July 2, 2021 at Bethesda Home in Goessel, Kansas.  She was born August 3, 1926 in Montezuma, Kansas to Peter and Lena (Wedel) Jantz.  On February 16, 1946 she married Homer J. Eason in Newton, Kansas and he preceded her in death on July 30, 2005.

Verene attended Meridian Baptist Church in Newton and worked in the transportation department at the former Northview Developmental Services in Newton.

She had a wide variety of interest including crocheting, drawing, tending flowers and bird watching. Verene also had a love of music and enjoyed singing, playing piano and guitar. Her greatest joy was being a mother to her large family and not only caring for them but also watching out for the neighborhood children which she thought as her own.

She is survived by her sons: Gary, Larry, Billy, Ronald (Cathy), Ricky, George, Homer and John Eason and one daughter Jolene Eason.  She is also survived by a Brother Dalin Jantz and sister Evelyn Jantz. She has 15 grandchildren, 28 great grandchildren and 12 great great grandchildren.

Verene is preceded in death by her husband Homer, parents, sisters Neola, Sadie, Lilian, Elvera and Jane and two brothers Verlin and Ines.

Funeral service will be 11:00 a.m. Thursday July 8^th 2021 at Petersen Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Duane Moraine presiding.  Visitation will be 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Wednesday at Petersen Funeral Home. A private interment will be in the Restlawn Garden of Memory Newton.
