Shirley Jo Grosch

Shirley Jo Grosch (Ansberry) 91 died February 8, 2026, in Newton Kansas. Shirley was born February 8, 1935, on a farm near Elmo Kansas to Isaac Marshall and Esther Lena (Heer) Ansberry. She attended and graduated from Chapman high School in 1953. She met Stanley Grosch at the A&W in Abilene Kansas and they were married on March 16, 1963. She worked as a nurse’s aide at the Halstead Hospital for 32 years until her retirement. She was a member of the First Christian Church, Newton Kansas for over 60 years.

Anytime we were in the area where she grew up, Shirley would talk about her siblings and her playing and swimming in Turkey creek, playing in the barn and the good times they had. She attended many of her class and all school reunions over the years. Shirley enjoyed gardening and time with her family. She walked a mile or more almost every day and many people recognized her from her yellow vest. She was a faithful attendee of The First Christian Church. She enjoyed eating out and playing cards with close friends. She also enjoyed lunches and potlucks at The Senior Center.

She is survived by her children Merle (Atieng) Clark of Lander Wy, Dawn (Kelly) Bush of Assaria Ks., Doug (Trisha) Grosch of Newton Ks, Bryan (Roxanne) Grosch of Wichita Ks; Grandchildren: William Clark, Laura Els, Adrianna Clark, Matthew Fry, Jamie Showalter, Chelsea Krueger, Shelby Grosch, Courtney Grosch, and Shannon Reed. Great Grandchildren Jacob, Logan, David, Elin, Kiera, Lucas, Lillian, Grayson, Finnley, Kolby, Amelia, Eloise, and Cachous. She is proceeded in death by her husband Stanley, her parents, Isaac and Esther Ansberry, son David Clark, brother Johnny Ansberry, sisters Collen Ferrier and Relva Nuss, Grandsons Andrew Clark and Chase Fry and great granddaughter Brenda Churchill
