Ruth Eagleson

Ruth Eagleson was 88 years old at the time of her death. She lived in Newton, KS with daughters Ronda and Tania. After bravely battling cancer, she passed away peacefully at Paramount Respite Care surrounded by her family.

Ruth was born April 15, 1934 at the Sterling Hospital to John Alvin Zimmerman (1892-1962) and Edna Edith (Mosier) Zimmerman (1904-1994). She was the 3rd of 5 children who grew up in a loving Mennonite home on the family farm Southwest of Sterling, KS. She graduated from Nickerson High School in 1952.

Ruth married Pat Eagleson (1932-2001) on Oct. 12, 1956 at the Sterling Mennonite Church. Ruth loved raising her 3 daughters, cooking (she was a superb cook), and sewing clothing for her family. She enjoyed living in Ottawa, KS with Jodi, in Cheyenne, WY and Garnett, KS with Ronda, and finally to be back in KS near her family. She doted on and was well loved by her 2 grand-dogs from Montana (Loki & Bella). She enjoyed reading, watching Food Network and working on puzzles in her spare time.

Ruth was preceded in death by her parents, and brothers Don and Wendell. She is survived by daughters Ronda Eagleson, Jodi Sylvester, and Tania Eagleson, sisters Lavonne (Bob) Farney and Greta Zimmerman, grandsons Matthew Sylvester and Aaron Sylvester.

A family and friends memorial time for Ruth will be held at Mennonite Friendship Communities in South Hutchinson on February 18^th from 2:00 to 5:00pm. Memorial contributions may be made to Good Shepherd Hospice.
