Russell S “Russ” Naylor, 83, passed away peacefully on January 12, 2026, in Oberlin KS.
Russell was born on March 18,1942 in Dodge City, KS to Meshech Naylor and Helen L. (Cobb) Naylor. He married his High School Sweetheart Jane S. Russell on December 11, 1960, in Dodge City KS. Where together they raised their three children and built a life rooted in faith, family, and community.
Russ was an active member of Salem United Methodist Church and a proud member of the Lions Club in Harvey County. He began his working life in the banking industry, a path that eventually led him to his position of Vice President Loan Officer at First Bank of Newton in Newton Ks. Russ was well respected in his career and in the community building lasting friendships.
In his free time, Russ enjoyed hobby trains, woodworking, and perfecting the art of clockmaking. He had a true green thumb and found great joy in caring for plants.
Russell is preceded in death by his wife Jane and his parents Meshech and Helen.
He is survived by his three children, Marla Stroup of Oberlin, Kansas, Julia (Michael) Amick of Mesa, Arizona, and Todd (Diane) Naylor of Belle Plain, Kansas; sisters, Delores Eversole of Dodge City, Kansas and Phyllis (Kenneth) Cole of Jetmore, Kansas; eight grandchildren, Sarah Mohr (Richard Huff), Brad (Megan) Pendergast, Amanda (Jarrod) Will, Zachary (Megan) Naylor, Nicole (Allison) Laswell, Rachael (Patrick) McCluskey, Brett Ostlee, and Tanner Head Keesee; as well as seventeen great-grandchildren.
Graveside service will be held Saturday, January 24, 2026, at 10:00 am at Greenwood Cemetery in Newton, Kansas, followed by a celebration of life service held at the Salem United Methodist Church at 11:00 am with a light luncheon to follow.
