Robert L Sheffler

Robert L. Sheffler 84, lovingly know as Bob or Lanny died June 5, 2025 at Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice in Wichita. He was born June 5, 1941 in Halstead, Kansas to William A. and Vivian B. (Carter) Sheffler.  On January 24, 1961 he married Lynda Kay Van Buren in Newton and she preceded him in death on August 19, 2019.  

He faithfully served his country in the United State Navy. Robert retired from the Wichita Police Department after 20 years of service. 

He enjoyed woodworking and greatly enjoyed spending time with his loving family and friends.

He is survived by his son Brian Sheffler; daughter Cynthia (Joseph) Myers-Cutcliff; sister Judy Cullen. He is also survived by 5 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren.  

Robert is preceded in death by his parents; wife; 8 sisters and 4 brothers

Funeral service will be 2:00 p.m., Friday, June 13, 2025 at Petersen Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Josh Fredlund presiding. Visitation will be 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday, June 12th at Petersen Funeral Home. The family will receive until 7:00 p.m. Burial with Navy Honors will be in the Restlawn Gardens of Memory Rural Newton, Kansas. 

Memorials may be made to Harry Hynes Hospice or St. Jude Children's hospital and left with Petersen Funeral Home.
