Robert Reed

April 26, 1940 — May 8, 2024

Robert G. Reed 84 died May 8, 2024, at NMC Health in Newton, Kansas. He was born April 26, 1940, in Wichita, Kansas to Obie and Lorraine (Florence) Reed. On June 24, 1962, he married Earlene Scoles in Great Bend, Kansas. Bob is survived by his Wife, Earlene, two sons Shannon (Vinnie) Reed of Wichita KS and Patrick (Connie) Reed of Manchester MO and six cherished grandchildren.

He was a 1958 graduate of Great Bend High School and attended Emporia State and Wichita State Universities.

Robert was an active member of the Sedgwick Christian Church where he served in many different capacities until moving to Newton KS where he and Earlene joined the Newton Christian Church.

He retired from Evergy where he worked as an instrument technician, trainer and ultimately the operations manager at Gordon Evans Energy Center. Robert enjoyed woodworking. He could often be found in his shop where he might be building a family wagon for the grandchildren, Crosses for the tables at church, or a piece of furniture for the house or a grandchild.

Bob also enjoyed traveling with their fifth wheel camper where they wintered in Arizona, made multiple trips to Oregon and one glorious trip to Alaska where he and Earlene traveled with dear friends.
