Reva Jean Cunningham

Reva Jean Cunningham, 92, a cherished member of the Newton community, passed away on June 7, 2026, at Paramount Health and Rehab in Newton, Kansas. Born on November 18, 1933, in Newton, she lived a life marked by dedication, warmth, and a remarkable spirit of service to others.

Reva earned her high school diploma and devoted much of her career to skilled work as a machinist. She was employed at Steven Springs and later at AGCO in Hesston, where her precision and expertise were deeply valued. Beyond her professional achievements, Reva's heart was profoundly committed to volunteering. For many years, she gave selflessly of her time to the Newton Salvation Army, where she managed the food bank with care and compassion. Her outreach extended further as she offered support to first responders and victims of natural disasters through the Salvation Army, demonstrating a steadfast commitment to helping those in need.

Raised in the Trousdale neighborhood and proud to be among the earliest residents of the Quail Creek neighborhood in Newton, Reva’s roots run deep in the community she loved. She found joy in many pursuits, notably her enthusiasm for sports such as volleyball and baseball. A dedicated coin collector and an avid collector of belt buckles, she took pleasure in the treasures that reflected her unique interests. Nature also held a special place in her heart; Reva delighted in watching birds visit her yard, finding peace and beauty in their presence.

Above all, Reva held her family close. She eagerly anticipated quality time spent with her loving family, enjoying the outdoors and exploring various places together. She is survived by her son Larry Cunningham, brother Donald “Skip” Rogers, granddaughters Jennifer, and Melissa, great-grandsons Brian, Niko, and Theron, who remember her fondly and carry forward her legacy of kindness and generosity. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews, and extended family. She was preceded in death by her beloved father Floyd Fredrick Rogers, mother Hazel Ruth Havens, Husband Harvey Henry Cunningham, and her son Glen Cunningham.

A graveside service to honor Reva Jean Cunningham will be held on June 11, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at Restlawn Gardens of Memory on US-50 in Newton, Kansas. This will offer an opportunity for family, friends, and the community to celebrate her life and bid farewell with respect and love.

Visitation time with the family is from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m., but a register book is available for friends to sign at Petersen Funeral Home from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Wednesday, June 10, 2026.

Memorials may be made in her memory to the Newton Salvation Army and left in care of the funeral home.

Reva’s life was one of giving and warmth, a testament to a woman who found joy in service, family, and the simple pleasures of life. Her memory will remain a blessing to all who knew her.
