Paula Louise Ray, born on January 18, 1952, in Newton, Kansas, passed away at her home on July 24, 2026, surrounded by family. A beloved sister, friend, and member of her community, Paula lived her life with grace, love, and a deep commitment to those she held dear.
Paula will be remembered for her vibrant spirit and her passion for nurturing both her beautiful flowers and the relationships in her life. Growing up in Newton, she forged a bond with her best friend, Joyce Thaw, with whom she shared countless memories. Paula dedicated herself to her family and created a warm, welcoming space filled with love and laughter.
Paula was preceded in death by her mother, Goldena Louise Ray; father, Luther Arzo Ray; sister, Mary Maude McClanahan; niece, Erica McClanahan; and nephew, Brian McClanahan.
She is survived by her brother, George Ray, Sr.; nieces, Danelle McClanahan, Tashia Ray, and Shawna Ray; nephews, Tyron Ray, Chase Ray, and George Ray, Jr.; great-nieces, Azia Ray, Janae Ray, Jayda Ray, Janessa Ray, and Ava Ray; great-nephews, Jordan Ray, Jaheem Ray, Javin Ray, Ezekiel Ray, Cassius Ray, and Andre Ray; great-great-nieces, Penelope Ray and Ariella Fasnacht; and great-great-nephews, Greyson Ray, Byron Ray, and David Ray.
A graveside memorial service to honor Paula's life will be held at Greenwood Cemetery, Newton, Kansas on Thursday, August 6, 2026, at 10:00 AM. Condolences for the family may be left with Petersen Funeral Home.
