Paul A Boese

Newton

Paul Arthur Boese 64, died January 2, 2024, at Hospice House in Olathe, Kansas. In the final month of a year-long battle with cancer, Paul spent two weeks at the University of Kansas Medical Center, in Kansas City, and two weeks at the Hospice House. The nurses and doctors all said he had more visitors than anyone! There was a lot of love shared in those four weeks by so many people. Paul fought a great fight against the odds, and never gave up. He was born December 19, 1959, in El Dorado, Kansas to Paul Allen and Norma (Smith) Boese.

Paul loved working at his parents’ Dairy Queen in Newton. Paul graduated from Newton High School in 1978. Paul loved sports and lettered in cross country, track and basketball. He attended Coffeyville Community College on a track scholarship, Central Missouri State University and was a graduate of Emporia State University.

After college, Paul worked as a sales representative for No Nonsense Pantyhose, and at the Papermate division for the Gillette Company, and was a pharmaceutical representative for Lederle Pharmaceutical Company. He spent the past 28-1/2 years at Batliner Recycling in Kansas City, Missouri as Sales Manager, handling major plant accounts, and working with a great group of people that he loved.

Paul was a loyal Kansas City Chiefs fan and season ticket holder since 1989. He enjoyed tailgates and had an annual tradition of hosting “Merry Christmas Martini” parties at the final December Chiefs tailgate. He did this for over twenty years. Paul was also a loyal Kansas City Royals fan. He also enjoyed attending concerts throughout his life. Some of his favorite concerts were REO Speedwagon and Kenny Chesney. Paul loved taking his friends, family and close fraternity brothers to concerts.

Paul is survived by his brother Jody Boese (Flo Rutherford) of Medway, MA; niece Kira Rutherford-Boese (Derrick Xu) of Medway MA; stepsisters Pat (Chuck) Friesen of Lincoln, NE, Elaine Mueller of Hayesville, NC, and Joan (Bruce) Reed of Georgetown, TX;  stepbrother Jim (Melanie) Mueller of Halstead, KS; nephews Geoff (Tisha) Friesen of Lincoln NE, Steve (Chiho) Friesen of Lincoln NE; nieces Becky Mueller of Pflugerville TX, Kelly Jo Reed (Corinne Jager) of Boston,  MA, and Jacqueline Reed of Austin TX.
