Patrick C Breckunitch

Patrick C. Breckunitch 70, died June 21, 2025, at Advena Living of Clearwater, in Clearwater, Kansas. He was born on September 8, 1954, in Buffalo Center, Iowa, to Carl and Jean (Levins) Breckunitch.  On July 14, 1984, he married Majel Palmateer at St. Mary Church in Salina, Kansas and she survives of the home.

Pat graduated from Buffalo Center High School and went on to earn his Bachelor's degree from Upper Iowa University and his Master's degree in  Administration from Kansas State University, working for many years as a band instructor/teacher in Iowa and Kansas.

After teaching, Pat served as an elementary school principal for nearly 30 years at Sacred Heart Grade School in Salina,  St. Andrews Catholic School in  Abilene, Kansas, and R.L. Wright Elementary, in Sedgwick, Kansas.

On top of teaching, Pat also played trombone with the Salina Symphony and Salina Municipal Band for several years and was a member of the Knights of Columbus.  He was also an avid sports fan, supporting all local teams-- especially those of the school he worked for.

He is survived by his wife Majel; son Kelly Breckunitch; daughter Kirstie (Joseph) Mikelait; and granddaughter, Frankie; and two sisters,  Carla Mitchell and Janet Bachofer.

Pat is preceded in death by his parents.

Memorial Mass will be 11:00 a.m. Thursday, July 3, 2025, at Holy Savior Catholic Church in Wichita, Kansas with Fr. Adam Grelinger, Celebrant.   A recitation of the Rosary will be 10:30 a.m. prior to the Mass at the church.

A private family interment will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the family to help with expenses and left in care of Petersen Funeral Home.
