Nicholas Monroe Wenger

Nicholas "Nick" Monroe Wenger, 47, of Wichita, Kansas, passed away peacefully on August 11, 2026, after a long, courageous battle with stage 4 colorectal cancer. 

Nick's laughter and smile had the unique ability to light up every room he entered—it was a deep, joyous laugh that you could easily hear from rooms away. He possessed a remarkably patient presence, the rare kind that would hold your hand and gently guide you out of the darkness. In 2002, he married the love of his life, Kim. Together over the next 24 years, they built a beautiful life and raised three remarkable children: Jakob, Jackson (Jack), and Caroline.

Born on August 6, 1979, Nick grew up in Mulvane, Kansas, and was a proud graduate of Mulvane High School. He dedicated his career to Wichita Concrete Pipe, serving first as the Quality Control Manager and later transitioning into the role of Plant Production Manager.

Nick loved nothing more than being outdoors with his family, whether they were hiking deep in the mountains or simply taking a quiet walk through their neighborhood. He was his children's biggest fan, always supporting them in their various activities. When he wasn't outdoors, he loved playing video games with his buddies (especially Destiny), watching movies, and spending quality time with his wife. Nick possessed an amazing, encyclopedic ability to recall fine details about movies, video games, music, and TV shows; he effortlessly knew the names of obscure actors, directors, and characters, and could recite song lyrics on command. He was also a passionate Star Wars fan and proudly amassed an extensive collection over the years. His unwavering devotion to his friends and family will never be forgotten.

He is preceded in death by his grandparents, Marvin and Barbara Wenger (Whiting), and Dale and Annette Walraven (Plainville); his uncles, Mike Wenger (Whiting) and Ron Walraven (Plainville); his aunt, Betty (Walraven) Price (Burnsville, Minnesota); and his mother-in-law, Susan (Spaulding) Graves (Wichita).

Nick leaves behind a lasting legacy through his beloved wife, Kimberly; their children, Jakob, Jackson, and Caroline; his father, Bill (Toni) Wenger; his mother, Deborah Wenger; his sister, Liz (Eric) Chippeaux; his brother, Clint (Shauna) Woodson; his father-in-law, Jon Graves; and numerous nephews, nieces, aunts, uncles, and dear friends.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to Victory in the Valley, 3755 E. Douglas Avenue, Wichita, Ks 67218.

A visitation will be held at Petersen Family Funeral Home, 215 N Main St, Newton, KS 67114, on Thursday, August 20, 2026, from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., with the family present to greet friends from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. 

A celebration of Nick's life will take place on Friday, August 21, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at Pleasant Valley United Methodist Church, 1600 W 27th St N, Wichita, KS 67204. A graveside service will follow at 2:00 p.m. at Greenwood Cemetery, 1100 E. 1st St, Newton, Kansas.
