Nadeen Carol Winters Wegele, a beloved daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, great-aunt, great-great- aunt, and dedicated paraprofessional in the field of education, embraced a life filled with faith, family, and service to her community. Born on May 31, 1936, in Seward, NE, to Eleanor and Ernest Winters, she spent her formative years in Wichita, KS, where she thrived in her studies at Redeemer Lutheran School and East High School.
Upon completing her education at St. John's College in Winfield, KS, Nadeen embarked on a rewarding career path that included teaching and later serving as a speech paraprofessional in the Newton Public Schools. It was during this time that she touched the lives of many students, offering unwavering support and dedication to their growth and well-being.
Nadeen's unwavering commitment to her family, church, and community reflected her kind and compassionate nature. She found joy in crafting, playing games, and traveling, and dedicated her time to church activities and volunteering.
Her marriage to Victor Herman Wegele was a source of strength and love, enduring until his passing after 36 years. Together, they raised their children, Judy and Leslie, instilling in them values of perseverance, faith, and love.
Nadeen's life was a testimony to the importance of family bonds, faith, and service to others. Her laughter, kindness, and encouragement will be dearly missed by those who had the privilege of knowing her.
Funeral arrangements have been made to honor Nadeen's life and legacy. A public viewing will be held at Petersen Family Funeral Home on Friday, August 30, 2024, at 5:00 pm – 9:00 pm.. The following day, a traditional funeral service will take place at Zion Lutheran Church on Saturday, August 31, 2024, at 10:00 am, followed by a graveside service at Greenwood Cemetery at 11:15 am. Nadeen's final resting place will be at 1100 East First Street, Newton, KS 67114.
In the embrace of memories and the legacy she leaves behind, Nadeen Carol Winters Wegele's spirit will continue to shine brightly in the hearts of all those she touched.
Nadeen was preceded in death by: husband, Victor Wegele, parents Ernest Winters, Eleanor Winters and sister Melba Lytle.
Nadeen is survived by: daughter, Judy (Paul) Ratzlaff; son, Leslie (Julie) Wegele; grandchildren Joshua (Jessica) Smith, Sarah (Stephan) Safstrom, Nathan Smith, Elijah (Hayley) Wegele,and their children, Jordan Wegele and Maggie Wegele; great-grandchildren, Lauren Smith, Katherine Smith, Sean and Shane Safstrom; sister Joan Bridges.
