Michael R. Haviland

Michael Ray Haviland, 63, of Newton went to be with the Lord on May 21, 2018 after a long illness.

Michael was born on Feb. 18, 1955 in Newton. Michael is survived by his children, John (Stephanie) and Joe (Jill) Haviland; grandchildren, Austin and Alyssa Haviland; father, Albert Haviland; step-father, Keith Sims; sisters, Pamela (Michael) Whalen and Annette (Ron) Allee  brother, David (Missy) Haviland and many other loving relatives. He is preceded in death by his wife, Phyllis Haviland; mother, Joyce (Kindt) Sims; and a brother, Gary Haviland.

Michael was an ordained minister and shared his love of the Lord with the youth over many years. He also loved his family and was always making sure they were taking care of themselves. Michael loved spending time with family, reading, painting, going to museums and spending time at the Keeper of the Planes in Wichita. He will be greatly missed by his loving family.

Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Friday, May. 25, 2018, at First Christian Church, Newton. There will be no public visitation. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery, Newton.
