Mary Lou (Marlin) Holt died October 2, 2023 at NMC in Newton, Kansas.
She was born August 7, 1937 in Greenville, Oklahoma to Jesse Edward and Eva M. (Clinkscale) Marlin. On November 27, 1954 she married Leonard J (James) Holt . They were married 51 years when he preceded her in death.
Mary Lou is survived by her 4 daughters: Karen (John) Dater, Sue (Frank) Meacham, Marilyn (Carl) Konecny, Rhonda (Shane) Preble., and her honorary niece/daughter Kathy Hirschler (Tim) , 1 sister Kay Long , 8 grandchildren, and 11 great-grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband James, brother Ray Marlin, and sisters Charlsie Renfro, Jessie Schmidt, and Barbara Smith.
Mary Lou lived in Oklahoma, Texas, and New Mexico before moving to Kansas. She lived many years in Sedgwick, Kansas. She worked in Food Service and Housekeeping for the Sedgwick Convalescent Center and later became a CNA and worked in Sedgwick and Anthony KS.
Mary Lou enjoyed time with friends and family, word puzzles, bingo and volunteer activities. She was able to travel after her retirement including dream trips to Ireland and Rome. . She was a KC Chiefs and Wichita State Shockers fan. She will be remembered by many for her caring nature–balanced by her quick wit
Memorial Service will be 10:00 am Saturday October 7 , 2023 at Petersen Funeral Home Chapel. The family will receive friends for 1 hour prior to the service from 9:00 am to 10:00 am at the funeral home. Private burial will be at the Hillside Cemetery in Sedgwick.
Memorials may be made to Caring Hands Humane Society or St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital in care of the funeral home
