Marjorie Elaine Deschner was born on October 14, 1935, in Hillsboro, Ks. to Ira and Edith Dole.
She passed away peacefully at home on June 9, 2026.
She attended schools in Hutchinson, Ks. moving to Newton her junior year. She was a 1953 graduate of Newton High School. and attended Hutchinson Business College.
On September 1st, 1961, she married Mervin Deschner at Salem United Methodist Church in Newton, Ks.
She was a telephone operator for Southwestern Bell for 9 years. After her marriage she moved to the country and farmed with her husband for 25 years. She was known for her wonderful meals during harvest. She was a great cook and baker and there was always a baked treat waiting for her kids when they got off the school bus.
After moving to Newton, she became a care giver for her parents and eventually taking care of her 4 grandchildren as a small daycare. She would often cook 4 different meals for her grandkids when they couldn’t agree on the same thing!
She enjoyed knitting. Ceramics and painting. She was a very crafty person. She was always helping with 4-H activities and projects.
She was a member of Eastern Star, Salem United Methodist Church and was a 23-year breast cancer survivor. She dearly loved her family and friends and was always willing to help everyone.
Marge is survived by her son Chris (Leslie) Deschner, daughter Sheri (Gary) Gronau, 4 grandchildren, Ashley (Shane) Campbell, Cody (Jessica) Gronau, Brant (Alexis) Deschner and Brody Deschner. 7 great grandchildren, Brielle, Briggs, Olivia, Elaine, Crew, Elijah and Abby.
4 step grandsons and 6 step great grandchildren. 2 nieces and 1 nephew.
She is preceded in death by her parents, husband and sister Joan Cully.
Memorial can be made out to Good shepherd Hospice and left in the care of Petersen funeral home.
There will be a private family graveside burial.
