Louise Schroeder

d. September 21, 2022

Louise Marie Schroeder, 88, died on September 21, 2022.

She was born on July 24, 1934, in Hartford, Kansas, the daughter of Jessie and Genivive (Crouch) Stutesman.

On November 4, 1953, Louise was united in marriage to Ellis Schroeder.

Louise was a HUGE fan of sports; from NASCAR, baseball, KU basketball, KC football, and golf, she loved them all and enjoyed sharing that hobby with her family. Her love of sports became so well-known that she would often be referred to as “the lady that who is always watching sports” by others in assisted living. Something else she loved was traveling, especially her West Coast trips and trips to Tennessee.

Louise enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Louise knew the value of being a grandma and would often recall her own love and fond memories of time spent at her grandparent’s farm, both as a child and as an adult. Going out to eat with family and friends was always a good time for Louise, especially if it involved one of her favorite treats – strawberry milk shakes or blueberry covered cheesecake. Dove chocolates were also her favorite and something she kept on hand along with a candy dish full of snack size candy bars.

Louise was always very kind, friendly, and patient. She never raised her voice (best mom ever!) and was loved by everyone she met. Louise was compassionate and she truly cherished the friendships she had with people.

Louise is survived by her children, Monty (Christine) Schroeder, Faron (Jeanne) Schroeder, Pam (Bruce) Haley, all of Whitewater, and Lori (Lee) Bonat of Wichita; 5 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren; and sister, Juanita Kester of Kingfisher, Oklahoma.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Ellis “Bud” Schroeder; and brothers, Roy Stutesman, Glen Stutesman, William Baysinger, and Gary Verlin; sister, Diana Finley; and grandson, Clint Reed Jr..

A graveside service will be at 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, September 27, 2022, at First Mennonite of Christian in Moundridge, Kansas. A visitation will be the evening prior from 5 to 7 p.m. on Monday, September 26, 2022, at Petersen Funeral Home in Newton.
