Lila Lee Kemph, 74, passed away on November 4, 2021, at Newton Medical Center in Newton, Kansas.
She was born on March 11, 1947, in New Hampton, Iowa, the daughter of Floyd Henry and Edna Lois (Winner) Schanfeld. Lila attended New Hampton High School, graduating with the class of 1965.
On March 4, 1967, Lila was united in marriage to Floyd Kemph at the Evangelical United Brethren Church in Newton. This past March they celebrated their 54th wedding anniversary.
For 43 years Lila was employed as a Dental Assistant for Dr. Kruse at Tom Kruse DDS in Newton.
Lila enjoyed her volunteer work with Meals on Wheels and her weekly bowling league with Eastgate Bowling Alley, she also loved attending her daily workout classes with her best friend Terri Marshall at the local YMCA. She was also a loyal member of the East Side United Methodist Church.
She will be deeply missed by all who knew her. Her home cooking welcomed others into her home, especially with her family.
Lila is survived by her husband, Floyd Kemph; mother, Edna Schanfeld; daughters, Shelly (Todd) Bryant and Christy (Dennis) Stoots; grandchildren, Evan and Grayson Bryant, Elizabeth (Ben) Hundley and Ethen Stoots; great-granddaughter, Emerson; and sister, Lee (Jim) Foley.
She was preceded in death by her father, Floyd Schanfeld.
A memorial service will be at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, November 13, 2021 at the East Side United Methodist Church (1520 E. Broadway, Newton). Masks should be worn in respect of Lila’s wishes. Lila would also never want anyone to wear black, as she wanted this to be a celebration of her life.
Memorial contributions may be made in Lila’s name to the East Side United Methodist Church.
