Kent N. Miller

Kenton "Kent" Neil Miller, 69, passed away at his home in Valley Center, Kansas, on July 24, 2026.

Kent was a loving, strong, hardworking, honorable man who always showed up for his family and friends. Born in Newton, Kansas, Kent moved to Valley Center, Kansas, on a farm he loved and adored. Kent studied Fire Science at Butler County Community College, and worked his way up in the fire department to become a Fire Captain.

He was proud of many things, a few being his farm and his career; but nothing made him more proud than his family. Kent loved going on family vacations, playing card games and going on dirt road cruises with friends and family. Even on his worst days, battling the hard fight of cancer, Kent would do his best to make an impact on the day, and pushed himself for the people he loved and cared about the most.

Kent’s personality was very big, he had an easy way of putting a smile on everyone’s face and was never shy to let you know how he was feeling. He made such an impact on the lives of everyone he knew, and will truly be missed.

Joining in heaven, Kent will reunite with his parents, Neil and Melva Miller. He leaves behind son, Ryan Harvell, daughter-in-law, Leah Harvell; son, Kole Miller, daughter-in-law Brooke Miller; and grandchildren, Braelynn Miller, Nolan Harvell, and Kalia Miller.

Memorials are suggested to the Sedgwick County Firefighter's Association, and may be left in the care of Petersen Funeral Home, Newton, Kansas.
