Juan Rodriguez Vela

Juan Rodriguez-Vela, 84, died on January 23, 2022, at NMC Health in Newton, Kansas.

He was born on March 8, 1937, in El Plateado, Zacatecas in Mexico, the son of Clemente and Trinidad (Vela) Rodriguez.

On June 14, 1971, Juan married Dolores “Lola” Gomez in Miami, Oklahoma. The two were married for 40 years at the time of Dolores passing in April of 2012.

For over 30 years Juan worked in concrete and paving for Ritchie Brothers Construction, retiring in 2000.

Juan enjoyed spending time with family and friends. Everyone looked forward to seeing what grandpa was bringing to the party. He enjoyed driving around town in his truck as most would see him do daily. He also enjoyed going to yard sales and second-hand stores. He had the biggest heart and would do anything for anyone. He will be missed greatly by many.

Juan was a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Church in Newton, Kansas.

Juan is survived by his children, Monica (Paul) Mosqueda and Juan (Nancy) Rodriguez; 4 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren; brothers, Fidel (Eva) Rodriguez, Angel Rodriguez, and Alfonzo Rodriguez; sister, Theresa Chavez; and many other loving family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents and wife, Dolores Rodriguez.

A funeral mass will be at 10:30 a.m., Friday, January 28, 2022, at Our Lady of Guadalupe, with rosary starting thirty minutes prior at 10:00 a.m.. Visitation will be the evening prior from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., Thursday, January 27, 2022.
