Jon Edward Neufeld was born on September 10, 1967 in Wichita, Kansas. He passed away at his home in Newton, Kansas, surrounded by family and friends, on March 7, 2026. His parents are Onalee and the late Peter Neufeld. Jon graduated in 1986 from Mountain Lake High School in Mountain Lake, Minnesota. In 1990, he graduated from Bethel College in North Newton, Kansas with a Bachelor’s degree in social work. He was employed as a case worker at Prairie View in Newton, Kansas for 28 years. Jon loved his clients and was passionate about making sure they were taken care of and treated well.

He enjoyed many activities with his father in his youth such as fishing, and refinishing a boat, a car and a van. In high school, he won fourth place in state with his sprint medley relay team and he was active in basketball and football. Jon’s happy place in later years was fishing at the Sand Pit with Duane Duerksen. He also enjoyed meeting his friends every weekday at the YMCA in Newton. Jon had many close friends and a deep faith in God.

Hi survivors are his mother, Onalee; two sisters, Sandra (Bruce) Wetzel and Cynthia (Dan) Kroeker; nieces and nephews, Holly and boyfriend Arthur, Jill and Kyle, Kelli and Evan, and Kyle and Maggie; great-nephew, Elias; and great-niece, Emilia. Deceased is his father, Peter Neufeld.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, April 25, 2026 at 3:00 PM at Shalom Mennonite Church in Newton, Kansas.
