John Brough Shumard III

John Brough Shumard III 75, died November 24, 2023 at his Newton residence.  He was born February 12, 1948 in Dodge City, Kansas to John Brough II and Mary (Schrayer) Shumard On February 14, 1969 he married Rebecca Pippitt in Dodge City and she survives.

He was a graduate of Dodge City High School and Dodge City Community College. Johnny was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. He was retired from the Prairie Land Partners John Deere where he worked in both Dodge City and Wichita.

He had a love of nature and being outdoors. He was often found gardening and especially loved tending flowers. John left a lasting legacy planting many trees in lifetime. he relaxed watching movies and especially enjoyed sci fi and war movies. He enjoyed building remote control airplanes and flying them with the RC Club in Newton

He is survived by his wife Rebecca of the home; son Isaac Shumard; 3 daughters Wendy Shumard; Misty Delaney and Ashley Herbers.  He is also survived by 8 grandchildren.

John is preceded in death by his parents.

Private family services will be held.

Memorial donations in Johnny's memory may be made to Homestead Health Center and left in care of Petersen Funeral Home.
