Ilene Rowe

Ilene Rowe 95, died Wednesday, June 16, 2021 at Newton Presbyterian Manor.  She was born March 1, 1926 in Lindsay, Oklahoma to Beaty and Maud (Marshall) Hooker.

On April 21, 1946 she married Euell B. “Jack” Rowe at Alex, Oklahoma and he preceded her in death on July 11, 2003.

She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Newton, Kansas.

Ilene worked for many years at the Newton J.C. Penny store where she enjoyed interacting with customers and made many friends through the years.

She is survived by her son: Rick (Candy) Rowe of Wichita, KS; daughters: Jill (Mike) Pierce of Wichita, KS and Jana (Alan) Conwell of Salina, KS. She is also survived by 3 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. Ilene is also survived by her special friend Wayne Wright of Newton, KS and lifelong best friend Blanche Cowan of Stockton, MO.

Ilene is preceded in death by her parents, husband, brothers: Gus, Beaty Jr., and Gary Hooker and sisters: Agnes O’Rorke and Mattie Holder.

Funeral service will be 2:00 p.m., Monday, June 21, 2021 at First Baptist Church, Newton, Kansas with Pastor Chip Bungard presiding.  Visitation will be 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday June 20, 2021 at Petersen Funeral Home. Burial will be in the Greenwood Cemetery, Newton, Kansas.
