Fred Bartel, 84, of Olathe, KS, passed away on January 12th after a valiant battle with lymphoma.
Fred was born on August 30th, 1938 to Ernest and Edna Bartel in Turpin, Oklahoma. After graduating from Turpin High School in 1956, he went on to graduate from Wichita Business College.
In 1970, he met Suzanne (Watson) Bartel, and they wed in 1972, going on to have two children, Melody and Mark. Fred and his family were blessed to live in multiple Kansas communities including Newton, Dodge City, Wichita and Olathe, as well as a 3 year stay in Brussels, Belgium.
Fred is predeceased by his parents, Ernest and Edna. He is survived by his wife, Suzanne Bartel; his sister Betty and her husband Bob Frahm of Wichita, KS; his brother Dean and wife Lila Bartel of Eugene, OR; his two children, daughter Melody and her husband Bryan Cole of Lenexa, KS; son Mark and his wife Sarah Bartel of Garden City, KS; and his 2 grandchildren, Madelyn and Breanna Cole; his dog Lily; multiple wonderful nieces and nephews as well as 4 grand-dogs.
Visitation will be held at Grace Hill Mennonite Church in Whitewater, KS on Tuesday 1/17 from 9-11am with services following after.
In honor of Fred and his love of relaxed work attire – attendees are free to wear jeans and a comfortable shirt/sweater.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations are made to the Lymphoma & Leukemia society to help further cancer research.
