Frances M. Smith 89, died October 1, 2021 at Schowalter Villa in Hesston.  She was born July 22, 1932 near Walton, Kansas to Arthur P. and Emma E. (Buller) Frey. She was married to Ben W. Smith and he preceded her in death on February 10, 2013.

Frances was a member of the Newton Bible Church in Newton.  She graduated from Newton High School and Grace College of the Bible where she earned a Christian Education Diploma. During her working years she was a Homemaker, Legal Assistant and Christian Educator, as well as working in the mission field.  Frances greatest joy was being a loving mother and wife. She looked forward to spending time with her family and friends and following their lives and activities.

Frances had a deep faith and shared her love of Jesus through faithfully serving others and working in missions, especially to Ethiopia where she and her husband spent 15 years.

She is survived by her sons Russell Smith and Myron Smith; daughters Jeannie Giles, Carolyn Dority and Maureen Eichelberger. She is also survived by 9 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren; sisters, Norma Goering, Connie Sandate; and brother, Merle Frey.

Frances is preceded in death by her parents and husband Ben.

Funeral service will be 2:00 p.m., Friday, October 8, 2021 at Newton Bible Church with Pastor Matt Kruse presiding.  A graveside committal service will precede the memorial at 1:00 p.m. Friday at Restlawn Gardens of Memory rural Newton. Visitation will be 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday at Petersen Funeral Home with the family receiving friends from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m.

Memorials may be made to Newton Bible Church in care of Petersen Funeral Home, for distribution to missions where her children and grandchildren are serving.
