Frances Anne O'Brien

Frances Anne O’Brien, our beloved sister, friend, and aunt, was gently welcomed into the loving arms of Jesus on July 20, 2025, in Bel Aire, Kansas. Born on October 7, 1939, in Springfield, Ohio, Frances lived a life of compassion, faith, and dedication to others, leaving an enduring legacy in the hearts of all who knew her.

Frances was preceded in death by her devoted longtime companion, Arlene Merkey, her parents, Anne F. O’Brien and Harry J. O’Brien, and her sister, Sharon O’Brien. She is survived by her sisters, Mary L. O’Brien (Moe Eichman) and Rose O’Brien; her brothers, Jim O’Brien (Carol Mumford) and Vince O’Brien; as well as her cherished nephews, Aaron and Paul O’Brien Eichman, and her beloved niece, Burk O’Brien Eichman.

After completing her junior year of high school, Frances attended Mt. St. Joseph’s in Cincinnati, Ohio. Upon graduating, she answered a higher calling and joined the Sisters of Charity. Her journey of service led her to Denver, Colorado, where she dedicated many years to teaching, shaping young minds with kindness, wisdom, and faith.

Frances’ life was a testament to love, devotion, and selflessness. Her gentle spirit and unwavering commitment to her faith and community will be deeply missed but forever remembered by her family, friends, and all those whose lives she touched.

While a memorial service is not planned you are encouraged to celebrate Frances’ remarkable life with friends and family who knew her well. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Catholic Care Center in Bel Aire, Kansas or to your favorite charity in her memory. Frances will be laid to rest in Fairview Cemetery, Portis, Kansas.
