Evalyn Marie Kachel

Evalyn "Lyn" Marie (Torres) Kachel, age 89, passed away on February 7, 2026 at Kidron Bethel Village in North Newton, Kansas.

Evalyn was born on January 18, 1937 to Gordon and Beneva (Henderson) Torres, in Redding, California.

On a blind date in Los Angeles, Evalyn met Gerald Duane Kachel. In July of 1957, they were united in marriage. They were blessed with two sons, Dennis and David. During their marriage, Evalyn and Gerald traveled many places for his job and for leisure, including New Mexico, France, London, and Egypt. 

Evalyn was preceded in death by her husband; parents; and sister, Beneva. She is survived by her sons, David and Dennis Kachel; brothers, Steve, Anthony, and Mike Torres; sister, Mary Konivic; 2 grandchildren; and 7 great-grandchildren.

A visitation for Evalyn will be held on Thursday, February 19, 2026, from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM at Petersen Funeral Home in Newton, Kansas. Rosary will be held that evening at 6:00 PM in the funeral home. Memorials are suggested to St. Mary's Catholic Church and may be left in the care of Petersen Funeral Home.
