Elsie Eva Jackson passed away peacefully at 99 years old on Saturday, March 21, 2026 at Kansas Christian Home in Newton, Kansas.
Elsie was born on Dec 5, 1926 in Medford, OK to David and Eva Janzen.
After a few years the family moved to Buhler, Kansas where she graduated from Buhler High School in 1944
She moved to Newton and met David Jackson at the skating rink in Newton. After dating a short time, they were married on July 7, 1945.
At the beginning of their married life, she worked different jobs in Newton but she really enjoyed her time working at the FW Woolworth store in the candy dept.
After of few years she had children and was a stay-at-home mom.
Her and David began going to the First Church of God in Newton. On May 16, 1958 she gave her life to the Lord and served in this church many years as the Choir Director and Adult Sunday School teacher. You could always find her helping where ever she was needed with special activities the church would have.
Her and David sang duets in the church at the local and state level. Their most requested song was He Touched Me. Everyone loved to hear them sing.
After the children were older, she went back to work for the 373 USD in the custodial department from 1972 to 1982.
After she retired, her and David liked to travel to Anderson Camp Meeting and to Michigan to spend time with her daughter Nanci and family. They went on several camping adventures with church friends. One of her favorite trips was a cruise she took with her family to Alaska.
She enjoyed her time with children and grandchildren. She loved making quilts and crocheting items for all of her kids and grandchildren. She loved watching Kansas City Chiefs football and KU basketball.
She was proceeded in death by her husband David T. Jackson and sons Wesley, Larry, Ronald, Darryl and Greg.
She was proceeded in death by her 4 sisters, Kathryn, Marie, Clara, Pauline and 5 brothers Henry, Abe, Frank, Adolf and David.
She is survived by 3 children (Cynthia Flory, David Jackson & Nanci Fenrick), 6 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren.
Visitation will be at Petersens Funeral Home from 5-9pm on Tuesday, March 24th. Family will be there from 6-7pm.
Burial will be at Restlawn Gardens of Memory at 10am on Wednesday, March 25th. The funeral service will be at 11am at Crossings Community Church at the corner of Broadway and Fairview in Newton. There will a luncheon at the church after the service.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Meals on Wheels or Kansas Christian Home both in Newton in care of Petersens Funeral Home.
