Eleanor Ilene Kehl, 94, passed away May 13, 2025 in Newton, Ks.

A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, May 27 at Petersen Funeral Home in Newton. Pastor Chip Bungard will officiate.

Eleanor Heubach was born in Argonia, Kansas on February 22, 1931 to Henry and Florence (Martin) Heubach. She also lived in Bentley, Valley Center and finally Newton.

She is survived by daughter Linda Fowler and son Kenneth Rains (Gloria).

Other survivors include sisters Evelyn Gardner and Wanita Brooks; sister-in-laws, Sheila Heubach and Bonnie Heubach; grandchildren Keith Rains, Amie Clifton, Michelle Wryn, Tammy Mulcahy and James Fowler; 5 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Jesse Kehl, a sister Elma Connet, and brothers Melvin Heubach and Marvin Heubach

Eleanor worked for the Valley Center School District and retired after more than 20 years. After her retirement, she enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and her puppy Mia. She also enjoyed crafting, crocheting & baking.

By 2019 she had become a victim of dementia and moved to Presbyterian Manor where she made new friends and was a valued member of their community.

In lieu of flowers the family has requested memorials be made out to Caring Hands Humane Society and left in the care of Petersen Funeral Home.
