David “Dave” Charles Fish of Newton, KS, passed away October 9, 2025, at Diversacare nursing home in Sedgwick, KS at the age of 79.
David was born September 12, 1946 in Union City, PA., to Wayne Newell and Laura Ellen Page Fish. He grew up on a farm in Pennsylvania with 2 younger brothers: Larry Theodore and Allan Jack. He graduated from Northwestern Senior High School with the class of 1965. He attended Nazarene Bible College in Colorado Springs, Colorado.
David married Karen Kay Pollock on August 14,1971 in El Paso, Illinois. They had three children: Cynthia Kay Gossett, Milford, Illinois, David Wayne Fish, Cloverdale, Indiana, and Matthew Charles Fish, Blackwell, Oklahoma.
David later married Shyrell L. Pratt on June 12, 2004 in Wichita, Kansas, gaining step-children Carmeti L. Pratt (Newton, Kansas), Sandra L. (Pratt) Markiewicz (El Dorado, Kansas), Penny L. Pratt (Haysville, Kansas), Arlene Pratt (Reno, Nevada), and Jirrel L. Pratt (Derby, Kansas). He also has numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
David was a mechanic by trade, wrecker driver, church bus ministry, train collector, and worked for Grand Central Senior Center serving his community.
A Celebration of Life for David C. Fish will be held Saturday, October 18, 2025 at 10:00 am at Newton Christian Church.
Memorials may be made to Newton Christian Church-Missions and Operation Smile, and left in the care of Petersen Funeral Home.
