Claudia Ann Shipley

Claudia "Sam" Ann Shipley, of Newton, Kansas, passed away peacefully on October 31, 2025, at the age of 79.

Claudia was born on November 25, 1945, in Dayton, Ohio to Howard Stewart and Dorothea Norgaard. She was a beloved mother, grandmother, and friend whose kindness and warmth touched everyone who knew her.

Claudia will be remembered for her wonderful spirit, humor, and love for her family. She found joy in life's simple pleasures and leaves behind a legacy of compassion and strength.

She is survived by her daughter, Stacia Tucker of Newton; sister, Karen Mann of Des Moines, Iowa; four grandchildren, Zachary Elfers of Newton, Joshua (Shelby) Tucker of Hesston, Andrew Thayne of Colorado Springs, Colorado, and Matthew (Breane) Thayne of Wichita; two great-grandsons, Shawn and Owen Tucker of Hesston; nephew, Eric Mann; niece, Whitney Mann Sibley; and many cherished friends.

A service will be held on Friday, November 14, 2025, at 10:00 AM at Palmer Park, Colorado Springs, Colorado. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to a charity of your choice in Claudia's memory. These may be left in the care of Petersen Funeral Home in Newton, Kansas.
