Chad W. Schuessler 49, died Tuesday, May 27, 2025 at his home. He was born December 12, 1975 in Wichita, Kansas to Alvin Max and Velma (Reimer) Schuessler. On June 4, 2016 he married Wendy Stone at Sedgwick, Kansas and she survives of the home.
Chad is survived by his loving family; wife Wendy, brother Marc and wife Debbi, niece Rachel (Stone), nephews Matthew, and Nathan, aunts Mary Lou and Darlene, many cousins, sister-in-law Amie, parents in law, Juanita and Craig, and step-daughter Jessie (Jon) and their daughters, Jane and Jolene. He is preceded in death by his first wife Kelly Schuessler, nephew Jonathan Schuessler, and parents Max and Velma Schuessler.
He attended Hutchinson Community College for Diesel Mechanics. There he met his lifelong friends Michael Jay and Travis Stutzman. He had so many more friends than just Michael and Travis, everyone he met became his friend. He truly never met a stranger.
After graduating college in the summer of 1996, Chad joined Keimig Harvesting with his brother where they harvested wheat and corn from California to Oklahoma to Montana. Chad drove a semi over the road for several years for Tim R. Schwab. After his father Max’s passing, he returned to work on the farm. While farming Chad also took a job with Bergkamp Construction driving a truck and running equipment for many years.
He married his first wife, Kelly Porter, in 2009. They bought a cute house together and had about a million cats. Chad and Kelly loved each other tremendously. Kelly was diagnosed with cancer and unfortunately lost her battle in May 2015.
In 2016 he met Wendy Stone and remarried. They enjoyed numerous road trips to Colorado, Missouri, and all through Kansas, visiting friends and family. A big highlight was the trip to Hawaii for a honeymoon. They also took trips to concerts, races, and tractor pulls in between planting and harvesting. Chad enjoyed his newfound grandpa status with Jessie’s two girls, Jane and Jolene. Having them out on the farm would really light up his whole day.
Chad followed in the footsteps of 100 years of his lineage, farming the land that has been passed down from generation to generation. It was hard work but he went out every day and selflessly helped keep America fed. He was so talented in his farming, and there wasn’t much he couldn’t fix with his own two hands.
In his spare time, he drove buses for Village Charter. He absolutely loved driving the buses as it allowed him to visit so many places he wouldn’t have been able to see otherwise. It also allowed him to meet so many people along the way, he made friends with everyone he met. While driving buses he also delivered trucks for Wichita Kenworth.
Chad was a rarity. He had a heart of gold. He loved everyone in his life so fully. He always saw the good in people. He put everyone before himself. He was always smiling, happy, and goofy no matter what he had going on. Anyone who knew him knows the sound of him belly laughing, usually at his own jokes too.
Chad had severe health issues for much of his life. He never let them hold him back. As soon as he was recovered he dove head first back into his farming. He always tried to ease everyone else’s fears for his health by keeping a brave face. He lived his life fully and was so grateful for his friends and family always being there for him.
Chad was a proud uncle. He loved his niece and nephews as his own. He took pride in each and every one of their accomplishments. He loved them endlessly. He loved teaching them how to drive the combine, work the fields, unload grain at the co-op, refill the bins, and so much more. He taught them more than just farming. He taught them resilience, patience, dedication, the power of positivity in negative situations, and unconditional love.
Chad will be missed by so many people. The community is hurting with the news of his passing. His presence will be missed far and wide.
The family would like to thank Rob and Angel Dillard for their constant support and care. Chad was blessed to have Rob as his doctor who cared for him in the comfort of his own home instead of seeing him in an office. The family would also like to thank Chad’s extensive list of friends who were always there to support and help him whenever he needed anything, especially Frank Falk and Jeff Schreiber for always being a phone call away.
