Cecilia (Estrada) Corona 94, died Friday, May 17, 2024, at Newton Presbyterian Manor. She was born November 21, 1929, in Newton, Kansas to Leonardo and Dolores (Vasquez) Estrada. She married Joe Corona on August 30, 1947, in Newton, Kansas and he preceded her in death.
Cecilia was a member of the Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Newton. She and Joe volunteered at the Adoration Chapel at Our Lady of Guadalupe for over 20 years. She was retired from Housekeeping in the former Axtell Hospital Newton. Cecilia was known for her sense of humor, and she enjoyed making people laugh, especially her grandchildren, she enjoyed puzzles and word search books. The family has fond memorial of Cecilia's beloved Mexican meals and spending time together as a family. She also enjoyed baking and decorating cakes for her friends and family.
Cecilia is survived by her sons Joe (Susan) Corona; Robert (Licha) Corona; Esteban Corona and Richard Corona. Daughters Gloria DeLeon; Ramona (Larry) Watson and Rachel (Saeid) Hamidi; brothers Larry and Jerry Estrada and sister Josie Palmer and Martina Montano. She is also survived by 21 grandchildren, 43 great Grandchildren and 4 great great grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her parents; Sisters Ramona Estrada, Nancy Arrellano, Mary Campa, Claudia Jaso, Margaret Corona, Jennie Arrellano and Dionesia Estrada; brothers Chuck (Joaquin) Estrada, Peter Estrada and Frank Estrada
Funeral Mass will be 10:00 a.m., Thursday, May 23, 2024, at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Newton with The Reverend Jorge Lopez Celebrant. Recitation of the Rosary will be 6:00 p.m. Wednesday at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Newton with the family receiving friends following Rosary until 8:30 p.m. at the church.
Burial will be in the St. Mary Cemetery Newton
Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Association and left in Care of Petersen Funeral Home
