Bobby Dwaine Meacham went to his Heavenly home on Friday, September 25, 2026. Bob was born on April 25, 1949 in Newton, KS, to Bobby Meacham and Marilyn Meacham. He is preceded in death by his parents and granddaughter Abigail Elaine Stiner.
He is survived by his loving wife of 42 years Kathy Meacham, sons Khale Meacham, Matthew Banning, Luke (Jacquelyn) Banning, daughters Aiden (Kyle) Stiner, Amy (Jacob) Jamerson-Wiltshire, and Julie (Mike) Strohm, 14 grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister Monica (Craig) Meacham Quattlebaum Shannon.
Bob graduated from Newton High School in 1967. He then studied electronics in Pittsburgh, KS, before working at King Radio in Kansas City until he enlisted in the Navy in 1970. He served his country for two years in active duty, including deployment in Cuba, and another three years in the reserves. He was discharged with honors in 1975 and was awarded the National Defense Service Medal. During his service Bob accepted Christ into his life, laying the foundation for the strong faith that guided the rest of his days.
Bob was both curious and courageous in pursuing his many interests. His professional career had many chapters; he worked as a miner near Leadville, CO; on the Santa Fe railroad; ran a small business in Boulder, CO, selling his work as a glass blower; was a self-employed chimney sweep; served as an adjunct professor for Hutchinson Community College; worked for the Broadway Colonial Funeral Home in Newton, KS; and retired after 22-years of service to the City of Newton. He earned a Bachelor of Science (2000) and a Master of Information Systems (2005) from Friends University. He became a certified Tai Chi instructor in 2009 and earned an amateur radio license in 2013. He ran several marathons and triathlons, was an excellent home cook, and had taken up whittling in recent years.
