Betty Ann Schmidt

Betty Ann Schmidt, 87, a beloved mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully on August 10, 2025, at Paramount Nursing Home. She was 87 years old. Born at home on September 25, 1937, in Greensburg, Kansas, Betty lived a life rooted in faith, family, and service.

Betty now rejoices in the presence of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, and is reunited with her loving husband, Wesley Schmidt. She is also preceded in death by her parents, Walter T. and Minnie Johnson, an infant daughter, two brothers, and two sisters.

Betty’s life was marked by deep devotion to her family. She is lovingly remembered by her children: Cindy (Robert) Miller, Kim (Kevin) Moon, Ron, Mike, and Darrel. Her legacy continues through her ten grandchildren and five great-grandchildren, all of whom brought her great joy and pride.

A devoted homemaker and dedicated newspaper carrier for the Wichita Eagle for many years, Betty’s work ethic and kindness touched many lives. She was a long-time and faithful member of Crossings Community Church (formerly First Church of God) in Newton, Kansas, where her presence and quiet strength were a blessing to all who knew her.

Those who knew Betty will remember her for her warm, generous smile, her gentle spirit, and the unwavering love she had for her family and faith. She will be deeply missed by all whose lives she graced.

A visitation for family and friends will be at Petersen Funeral Home on Wednesday, August 13, 2025 from 5pm - 9pm.

Service will be held at the Crossings Community Church in Newton, Kansas on Thursday, August 14, 2025 at 10:00am.

Memorial Suggestions are: Crossings Community Church or St. Jude's Children's Hospital. May be left in the care of Petersen Funeral Home.
