Barabara Ann (GiGi) (Walters) Stucky 79, died July 23, 2025, at her Newton residence. She was born December 1, 1945, in Newton, Kansas to Floyd and Ruth (Marsh) Walters. On January 29, 1966, she married James B. Stucky at the former Hesston EUB church in Hesston, Kansas and he survives of the home.
Barbara attended Newton Schools and graduated from Newton High School in 1963 and cosmetology school in 1965. She worked out of her shop at her home so she could be close to her children as they grew up. Her greatest passion was being a loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend to many.
Barbara always enjoyed watching other’s activities and taking joy in their accomplishments– her younger brother in sports, her children in sports and music, and her grandchildren’s activities. She loved taking her kids and grandkids on trips and some special trips were to Padre Island to watch Wichita State, and to Disney World. One special trip with her husband to England included a trip Centre Court at Wimbledon. In retirement she loved to go to Branson often, loved the Kansas State sports and had season tickets to Wichita State basketball and Wichita State Baseball. She really enjoyed going to movies, so that was a frequent occurrence as a family. She had a distinct love for pugs; four special dogs graced her life and were dearly missed –Jade, Kimo, Mandy and Holly.
She was a light in the world, always full of love and appreciation. She was so grateful for all of her blessings and especially her loving husband, her kids and grandkids. She was very humble, a quiet influence, and so very wise with her advice. She will be most remembered for being a loving “GiGi”. She was very involved in her grandchildren’s lives and never missed an opportunity to celebrate them, be with them, and spoil them with love and affection.
She truly treasured any family time, holidays were very special to her, and she never missed an opportunity to spoil her family as she loved shopping and finding the exact special gift for everyone. She loved decorating and was especially blessed to be able to build a home with her husband and loved to decorate it. Faith and family were her top priorities, so her home is filled with family photos and crosses that reflect her strong faith.
Barbara is survived by her husband James of the home; son Jason and his wife Leigh; daughter Alisa and her husband Todd Brown; sister Sharon Chapman and grandchildren: Blake and Ben Crawford and Olivia and Rachel Stucky.
She is preceded in death by her parents and brother Tony Walters.
A private graveside committal will be held in Greenwood Cemetery Newton.
