Arnold Lee Curtis

Arnold Lee Curtis peacefully passed away at the age of 90 years on January 29, 2026, at Paramount Living Center in Newton Kansas.

He was born in Marion North Carolina September 17, 1935, to Hanna R. and Martin L. Curtis. He attended Clinchfield School in Marion North Carolina.

Arnold joined the Navy in 1954. He served on the aircraft carrier USS Lexington. He worked on the flight deck as a flight director directing planes as they landed and took off.

He met his wife Patricia Curtis in Halstead Kansas while serving at the naval air base in Hutchinson Kansas.

They were married on September 18, 1960, in a small country church close to Towanda, Kansas.

He loved the outdoors and was an avid fisherman. He especially enjoyed fishing with his best fishing buddy Bob Murphy. He fished in several lakes and ponds in Kansas and fished in Arkansas, Mississippi and North Carolina. He enjoyed playing soft ball, hard ball and bowling and brought home trophies from both sports.

He was survived by his wife, Patricia, three sons Micheal (Laura), Mark (Julie), Randy (Jackie), Nine grandchildren and four great grandchildren.

Loved ones that went before him were his parents Hanna and Marten Curtis, brothers Eugene Curtis, Cecil Curtis, aunt, May Moonie and infant great grandson Spencer Curtis.

Arnold retired from Westar Energy in 1996 is now known as Evergy.

His service will be at Petersen funeral home on February 5th at 2p.m. and there will be a visitation on February 4th from 5-9p.m.
