Anna Jane DeWater

Anna Jane DeWater (Daines), 80, of South Hutchinson, Kansas, passed away on June 3, 2024.

She was born on May 11, 1944, in Canon City, Colorado to John & Beatrice (Epperson) Daines. After the death of her mother, Anna came back to Hutchinson in 1947 to be raised by her grandparents among their own 14 children.

In 1965 Anna met Russell (Bud) DeWater. They married Oct 14, 1967. Anna had four children from a prior marriage and welcomed a child in November 1969. Together they raised all five children.

Anna was a homemaker as the children were growing up and did the bookkeeping for The Independent Oil Company, a service station she co-owned with her husband, in South Hutchinson. Later in life, she baked bread for Sub & Stuff Sandwich shop followed by housekeeping at  Hutchinson Hospital for seventeen years until her retirement. 

Anna is preceded in death by both parents, brother Lee Daines and daughter Darla Healey-Eckhoff. 

She is survived by husband Russell, daughter Kimberley Howard of Hutchinson, son Johnnie Healey of Hutchinson, son Mike (Brenda) Healey of Bel Aire, and daughter Lana Bichet of Newton,  nine grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren,  great-great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

A private family memorial is being planned. 

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made out to Russell Dewater and left in care of Petersen Family Funeral Home.
