Anna Barker

Anna Marie Barker, 96, joined her husband, children, many relatives, and friends on July 5, 2023, in the big beautiful Heaven that we all seek after life on earth.

Anna was born on September 15, 1926, in Malony, Iowa, the daughter of Guy and Opal (Ash) Poore.

On February 14, 1945, Anna was united in marriage to Pearl Edmund Barker. The couple was married for 46 years when he preceded her in death on February 3, 1991.

For many years Anna worked as a certified nursing assistant, a job that she both enjoyed and was good at.

Anna loved cross stitching, collecting owls, and butterflies of all kinds.

Anna is survived by her children, Herman Barker, Kenneth (Rebecca) Barker, Larry Barker, Sharon Barker, and Sandra (Harry) Arnold; sister, Mary Howell; twelve grandchildren, thirty-four great-grandchildren, and ten great-great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Pearl Barker; father, Guy Poore and mother, Opal (Ash) Poore; step-mother, Nina Poore; brothers, Ernest Poore and Richard Poore; sisters, Neva James and Kathryn Lane; daughters, Linda Barker and Anna Mae Barker; son, Raymond Barker; daughter-in-law, Joletta Barker; daughter, Virginia Durrant; and son, Steven Barker.

A visitation will be from 12:00 p.m. until the service time at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, July 14, 2023, at Petersen Funeral Home in Newton, Kansas.
