Alice Sturgeon

Alice Navin Sturgeon, 86, born to Dr. Kenneth W. and Hermina Navin on October 22, 1939 in Hastings, Michigan, passed away on March 13, 2026 in Wichita, KS of natural causes. As a child Alice’s family moved from Hastings, MI to Mississippi, then settled in Shawnee, OK, where she was a student at St Benedict Catholic School. In 1959 she married J. Ronald Sturgeon and moved to Newton, KS, where they had seven children: Mark, Susan, Joan, Thomas, Lewis, Paul, and Denise. After the loss of Mark and Paul, they moved to Omaha, NE, then to Muskogee, OK and back to Newton in 2009. She was a member of St. Mary church and was part of the altar society. 

She is survived by her children: Susan Mannion (Michael), Joan Sturgeon, Thomas Sturgeon (Marjorie), Lewis Sturgeon (Sonia), and Denise Sturgeon, many grandchildren and even more great grandchildren; as well as her siblings: Robert Navin (Cathy), Lawrence Navin (Fran), Phillip Navin (Peggy), and Helen Price (David). 

She is preceded in death by her parents Kenneth W. Navin, Hermina (Lorkavic) Navin, husband J. Ronald Sturgeon, sons Mark Allen Sturgeon and Paul Anthony Sturgeon, grandson Kenneth Mark Sturgeon, siblings: Kenneth W. Navin Jr., Rose Anna (Navin) McMillin, Marylin (Navin) Becker and Dennis Navin.

Alice Sturgeon will have a visitation at Petersen funeral home on Friday March 27, 2026 from 5-9p.m. with a rosary starting at 6pm. A service will be at 10:30am on Saturday March 28, 2026 at St. Mary.
