Alan L. Heine 83, died April 19, 2019 at Schowalter Villa in Hesston, Kansas.  He was born July 24, 1935 in Newton, Kansas to John H and Lulu B (Thompson) Heine.

 

Alan was a 1953 graduate of Newton High School and earned his bachelor’s degree from Kansas State University in 1957. He was the manager of American General Finance in Newton for nearly 42 years. He also worked as a realtor with Claudie Sizelove in Newton.

 

He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Newton.

 

Alan lived a life of service to others in his Newton and Walton Communities. He lived in the Walton community for over 30 years where he has served on the city council, was mayor and chief of police.  He was also active in Lions Club, Elks and Rotary Club. Alan was also a member of the Newton Masonic Lodge #142.

 

He had an artistic ability and has enjoyed ceramics and wood working through the years. Feeding the birds and enjoying watching them at the bird feeders was an enjoyment.

 

Alan is survived by his son Brad Heine; daughter Sheryl Slifer and her husband John; 5 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren

 

He is preceded in death by his son Eric L. Heine; brothers Lawrence and Warren Heine and sisters Dorothy Matlock and Francis Lowrey.

 

Funeral service will be 10:00 a.m. Thursday April 25, 2019 at Petersen Funeral Home Chapel with The Rev. Amos McCarthy and Chaplain Wendy Miller presiding.  Visitation will be 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Wednesday evening with the family receiving friends from 6:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Petersen Funeral Home.  Burial will be in the Greenwood Cemetery Newton.

 

Memorials are suggested to the Schowalter Villa or Good Shepherd Hospice in care of Petersen Funeral Home
